4-Week Yoga Workshop Sessions
These 4 workshops will give you a chance to explore the anatomy, alignment and how to connect to the breath. Each workshop is open to all levels of students. We’ll explore the basics of the postures but also how to address common misalignments which can often lead to pain in certain poses. With a skillful sequence and alignment you may be able to access postures you couldn’t before and deepen ones you practice often.
Yoga isn’t about the glory of the pose its about the actions going on within the pose that make it beneficial to the body/mind/heart and that we are practicing in a way that supports longevity as we age.
Workshops are at the absolutely stunning space, The Creative Commons 1 Bathurst Street London, ON, N6B 3R2

Handstand play workshop
Every structure that is built upon a solid foundation can hold, when the foundation is off the structure loses integrity. There is something so unfamiliar for some about going upside down. Its so easy to panic, get disorientated and lose a alignment. This step by step workshop will allow you to explore the exhilarating practice of turning your body and world upside down. Rest and Restore – Saturday, March 14th, 2020, 1pm to 3pm
Hips and Twists workshop
As we approach the beginning of the Winter’s thaw let’s melt some of the restrictions in the hip and along the ribs and spine. Think of the hip joint like a round peg in a deep cup and that cup has gunk on the inside. Over time we can lose some range of motion, experience pain, begin to compensate and even experience changes to the bones. Hip openers allow the joint to maintain its liquidity and range of motion. This workshop will be like taking your car into a mechanic for a full tune up! The twists will wring out tension from along the spine. If you sit for long hours each day this workshop will empower you with postures and key alignment principals to support your entire spinal column and allow for better functioning of all the major organs, nerves, blood flow and muscles that support the spine.
Bend Don’t Break – Saturday, April 4th, 2020, 1pm to 3pm
Backbend into Bliss workshop
Since we spend most of the day upright-ish or in slight spinal flexion bending backward can let to feeling very stuck and tight in the front body. There are so many important considerations when it comes to bending backward or spinal extension. Out of all the poses this category often leaves people rushing through, hoping it will end quickly from feeling compression and pain. We’ll explore the importance of the foundation, moving from the front body while being supported by the back body, the positioning of the legs, hips, ribs and neck. You’ll be able to apply this knowledge to any backbend and it will bring more ease and bliss.
Play with Gravity – Saturday, May 23rd, 2020, 1pm to 3pm
Balance posture workshop
Our relationship to gravity is something we can train to a degree. Practicing yoga postures that purposely challenge our balance are some of the most beneficial practically speaking for longevity and aging. Any time we remove a leg and balance on one or balance on our hands while we lift our legs and feet we are strengthening all the muscles that the feet, ankles, hands, wrists and core. Getting a leg up and wobbling around with glimpses of a balance state are a mirror of how humans are juggling so many different aspects in life. This practice teaches how to stay calm in the eye of the storm, how to connect and hold our center no matter what comes our way.
This workshop will have more one-legged balance poses and a few arm balances.
Sometimes individual alignment cues and refinements can help us to get more joy and less pain from yoga. We can work on categories of postures, assists (lots of them), sport specific classes, breathing, and meditation, all catered to your specific needs –
